The voice

It’s not what you say but the way that you say it. Most speakers do not optimise the vocal capacities they possess. The voice is key to the success of your communication.

Rhetoric is not just the art of speaking and writing effectively, it comes under different forms. For example, when Winston Churchill said his famous..

“It’s not the end…it’s not even the beginning of the end…but it is perhaps the end of the beginning.”

We call this an “Antimetabole” which means that it inverses the order of words in a formula that has already been used.

Good orators use the different forms of rhetoric but also analogies, metaphors and acronyms. Obviously they should not be over used or they will create an adverse effect on the public. It’s all a question of finding the right balance in your communication.

During my training sessions we look at the vocal spectrum, working on pronunciation and articulation around some fun exercises. You’ll also learn how to manage and use silence. Communication is an art.
